Last week I did a daily video on Facebook where I talked about how it is people that matter. I made the point that it isn’t the event that is important, but the people that are touched that are important. So let me speak about an event we were involved in over the weekend. Rather, about the potential touching of lives by our participation the Bridge City Parade. I have been informed that during that parade we gave out 3500+ gospel tracts. Think about that. We put a gospel presentation into the hands of over 3000 people in our community. How many homes might that represent? I don’t know, but I do know there is probably not another single hour in any year where we put the gospel into that many homes in our community. Presenting the gospel to our community is our purpose as The First Baptist Church in Bridge City.
As you make plans for the holiday season be sure to include the Worship of the Christ Child. You will want to see family. You will enjoy the kids and grandkids. You will decorate and prepare for the season and everything that goes with it. Make sure you also celebrate the true meaning. Here at The First Baptist Church you can attend Taste of Christmas, Christmas Eve Candlelight Lord’s Supper Service and our Christmas morning Family Gathering.
There are a couple of events that I want to make you aware of and invite you to attend. First there will be a Sunday School Fundamentals Workshop/Conference. It will be held at the First Baptist Church in Vidor on Saturday January 13 from 8:30-2:30. I encourage all Sunday School workers to attend. Actually, anyone can attend. Conference speaker is Josh Hunt who has expertise in Sunday School and small groups. Please let me know if you would like to attend before January 5.
The next event is the Empower Conference in February. For all of you long time Baptists, this is what we used to call the Evangelism Conference. It will be held in Irving Texas, February 26-27. We can all be responsible for our own expenses, but we can go together, car pool, stay at the same hotel, etc. They will also have some specific breakout sessions that you can enjoy. The general sessions will include speakers such as: Dr. David Jeremiah, Robby Gallaty, Herb Reavis, Sean McDowell just to name a few. I am very interested in going. If you are as well let me know and we can get together at some point after the first of the year and work out the details. Anyone will enjoy this event. You will be inspired to be who God has called you to be.
