BK’S KORNER
Lately I have been trying to change up my diet just a little. The main thing I am trying to do is to cut back on the refined sugar in my eating habits.  A couple of changes I have made in that regard is no sweet tea and I don’t eat the whole bag of chocolate candy! Anyhow just taking some baby steps. Doing ok with it, until….

Last week I was rummaging around in the freezer, and I moved something and there behind it is a pint of Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream. Kryptonite! Not only that, but a big ol’ tub of Peanut Brittle showed up on the counter as well.  Hello sugar!

Needless to say, I couldn’t resist either of those temptations.  Isn’t it crazy how when you are trying to eat well suddenly you encounter those things that are your weak points? That sugar is just lurking everywhere trying to get me.

I am reminded of the scripture in Genesis.  God is talking to Cain right after he has killed his brother Abel. God tells Cain in Genesis 4:7, “…sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you….”
In other words, sin is always there lurking. It is Just around the corner. It is just outside the door. It is waiting for us. It is ready to pounce.  That is why whenever we decide to make better choices in our lives we always seem to run right into the one thing that is our great weakness.

The enemy does not want to see us walk closer to God. He does not want to see us strive for holiness. He is always hiding in the shadows. He is ready to tempt us and lead us astray.

We need to always keep in mind what Isaiah 40:2 says that we looked at yesterday.  The battle is over. Our iniquity is pardoned. We must rely upon Christ for our strength. He will give us the victory and sustain us.

I hope that you are planning to attend our Christmas Musical, The Christmas Secret this coming Sunday evening. We are praying that it will glorify God and that hearts will be touched by the gospel message. Performance begins at 5:30 pm and following the performance we will have a great time of fellowship with our Taste of Christmas. Plan to be there.

You will want to also make plans to attend our Christmas Eve Candlelight Lord’s Supper service.  You are also invited to our Christmas morning Family Gathering. Turn your hearts and spiritual eyes to the Baby in the manger. “Behold, Our God!”

Remember to pray today!

Blessings to you all.
