BK’S KORNER
I learned something the other day that I never knew before. I learned one of the reasons that Woodpeckers peck holes in trees. I was watching one of those television shows about our National Parks. It may have been in Yellowstone. Anyhow, one segment was on the woodpeckers. The woodpecker was pecking holes in the tree and then picking up small acorns and pecking them into the hole. Storing up food for later use. He was preparing for the winter.
There was one problem. The squirrels. The squirrels would come along and steal those acorns out of the holes. You see squirrels want food too.
I was reminded of the words of Jesus when He said, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:19-21
All the treasures we try to store up for ourselves on this earth are temporary. They can corrupt and decay. They can also be stolen. However, the spiritual treasures that we lay up can never be taken away. They will never go bad. They do not have an expiration date. They are eternal.
You will live in Heaven forever. Your time on this earth is short. Therefore, make sure you store up some treasures for the next life. Put some holes in Heaven and store up your spiritual acorns there. Those pesky squirrels cannot get to them there.
Hope you all have a great week. Pursue God. See to be a person after God’s own heart. Seek Him. Live humbly surrendered to Him and His will. Remain faithful. No quitting and no running away.
Love you all.
Pray every day.
Pray for others.
Blessings
