BK’S KORNER
Last week while we were working in the Soup Kitchen someone caught me looking in the refrigerator. I wasn’t looking for anything at all, it’s just one of my little quirks. Whenever I go home to see my dad I will look in the refrigerator several times a day. I mean, I already know what is in there, but I just have to look. I can remember doing that since I was a kid. I even did it at my grandma and grandpa’s house. Every now and then I will see something I missed before. Sometimes I see something that I want that I didn’t know I wanted. Something will just catch my eye and I’ll think that looks delicious. I want it.
My thoughts went to how I might treat God’s Word in that way. Do I go to it several times a day? I may not really have a purpose when I open it, I may just be looking inside with no expectations. Then, maybe something will speak to me. Maybe God’s Spirit will show me a verse that just seems to be something I need at that moment. Maybe I will see something that I didn’t know I needed but the Spirit uses that Word to minister to me.
God’s Word is food for my soul. I grow by it. My faith is built and strengthened by it. It shows me where I am falling short of God’s ideal. It teaches me how to correct myself so that I can do as God pleases. It trains me so that I can be more like Christ. It makes me complete. It grows me into a mature follower of Christ so that I can serve Him in every way that He desires of me. (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
So treat God’s Word like the Fridge. Go to it regularly and feed your faith!
I just got an email from Pumpkins USA. They sent me the special order form. So here we go. The Pumpkins are going to be arriving very soon. As of now they are scheduled to arrive on Saturday, September 24 at 9 am. I plan to have a work day to set up the Patch on Saturday September 17 at 9 am. We will set out the pallets and get the patch ready for the pumpkins. We will need “all hands on deck” for the unloading on the 24th. Hope you will plan to be there and help. Bring a neighbor! I will try to get the daily work schedule out soon so that you can begin signing up to work in the Patch. Thanks in advance for all of your help in the Patch.
Have a great week. Keep pressing toward the Lord. Keep praying for our community. Keep expecting God to move.
Love you all
