BK’S KORNER
Every year at this time I have what I call a “Great Reset” in my life. It is a time when I am reminded that there is still innocence, goodness and kindness in the world. I am reminded of the simple things in life and joy. It comes from watching something on TV. Yes that’s right. This time of year has my favorite sporting event to watch on TV. It is the Little League World Series. Watching kids play baseball just for the love of the game does something to me.
There is always a story that comes from this event that reminds me that there is still goodness in the world. It has already happened this year. A pitcher had a pitch get away from him. He hit the batter in the head. The young pitcher was obviously upset that he could have hurt the kid batting. In the Major Leagues or other upper levels of baseball you may have had the batter charging the mound for a fight. Possibly in the next inning the pitcher on the team of the kid who was hit might have thrown at the head of opposing team’s first batter in order to return the favor. But not in the Little League World Series. The batter could see that the pitcher was upset about it, so he left first base, walked to the mound and gave the kid a hug. I mean seriously. It just did something to my heart. It was a reminder that people still do care. People are forgiving. People understand when you make mistakes. There are still good people in the world and good kids growing up who will be quality young men one day. We could all stand to watch and learn from these kids just playing a sport simply for the love of the game.
It always resets my spirit and just reminds me to love God and love people. That is the simplicity of being a follower of Jesus. It really is that simple. May we keep it close to the front of our minds and our hearts.
On another note, I want to thank everyone who gave to help clear our bank note. We did it! We no longer have that debt hanging over our heads. It will reduce our monthly expenses tremendously. Thank you very much. I know financial conditions are difficult right now. However I hope you will still give to support the work of the ministry that we are trying to do here. God will bless I’m sure.
Love and Blessings to you all
