BK’S KORNER
There is one thing that I always wanted to do with my grandpa that I can only remember doing one time.  I always told him that I wanted to do this thing with him and he was more than willing.  The fault was completely mine.

You see, grandpa used to get up and go to the local café at about 5 am every morning for coffee.  He would meet other men there and they would have coffee and talk.  I always wanted to go. I would tell him that wanted to go the next morning and he would say, “Ok.” Of course, I couldn’t/wouldn’t get up that early.  I would even ask him to wake me up. He agreed and would come in the room early and wake me to get ready to go.  I just couldn’t wake up.

I don’t know why it was something I wanted to do. Probably I just wanted to spend time with him.  I wanted to sit there and drink a Dr. Pepper while he and the other oil field workers talked about who knows what. I just wanted to be there.  However, I just could or wouldn’t make it happen.  I wanted to sleep more than I wanted to go.

This little scenario can describe so many situations in our lives. There are so many things we say or think that we want to do, but we just aren’t willing to pay the price. We can all relate to what Paul says in Romans 7:15. He says that the things he wants to do he doesn’t do and the things he doesn’t want to do is what he does.  Really the question is, how bad do I want to do it?  Am I willing to pay the price?

Are you willing to pay the price to be a great athlete? Are you willing to do the work and study it takes to be an A student?  Are you willing to sacrifice and do what it takes?  Are you willing to pay the price to be a prayer warrior?  Are you willing to do what it takes to be a person who shares the gospel? Are you willing to pray, search the Scriptures and gather with God’s people for worship in order to have a close relationship with God?

You see, often the reason I am not doing what I want to do is because I am not willing to pay the price. I wasn’t willing to get up at 5 am to go to the coffee shop even though in my mind I wanted to go. Sometimes I have to take control of my life and practice some self-discipline in order to do what I say I want.  Just something to think about.

I hope that you will plan to attend the Christmas Crusade December 8 -10.
I hope that you enjoy the Holiday season with those who are special to you.
I hope you are praying for your One, our church and community.
I hope you are thanking God for the kids we saw yesterday in the service.
I hope you are Blessed today!

Blessings
