BK’S KORNER

Yesterday I talked about what happens when a church is “filled with the Holy Spirit.” I said that the example of the Book of Acts is that they became bold witnesses of the gospel.  Another account I didn’t share yesterday is from Acts 4:31. This was after Peter and John had healed the crippled man at the Temple.  They had been arrested and ordered to not speak the name of Jesus. They decided to have a time of prayer.  Acts 4:31 says, “And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were filled with the Holy Spirit and they spoke the word of God with boldness.”  Again, do you see it? The result of being filled with the Holy Spirit was a bold proclamation of the gospel. That is what we want. To be filled with God’s Holy Spirit. Pray for our Church to have God come down and fill us with His Spirit.

I anticipate that in the weeks ahead we will explore some other results of what happens when a church is filled with the Holy Spirit. Again, we will most likely be looking to the Book of Acts for that example.

I know that many of you are concerned about the devastation that has taken place due to Hurricane Helene in North Carolina. I know we are concerned about all the areas that have been affected. It looks as though Florida will be taking another direct hit later this week from a major hurricane. Some of you have expressed an interest in giving to help those who have been affected. We will, beginning now, take a love offering that we will send on to help those in need due to these hurricanes. You may bring it to the office or if you like you can put it in an envelope, mark it “hurricane”.  We will send this to those conducting disaster relief efforts.  Above all, please pray for those affected. You should do that right now.

God is obviously beginning to work in our church. We want to stay close to His heart so that we can act like Him.  The enemy will not just allow us to continue to make a difference in our community without opposing us. Keep our eyes on Christ. Our Armor on and let us stand against him.

Pray for our church to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Pray for our community to turn to Christ.
Pray for your One to come to salvation.
Pray for those who have recently made commitments in our church.

Love and blessings to you all.
