Back to School

Back to School
In just over a week Bridge City will begin another school year. Students will fill the halls, classrooms, and desks of our public schools. Teachers, administrators, and faculty will be engaging, teaching, and looking after a multitude of students. As so many get ready to go back to school there are many ways that we can love, engage, and support our community.

First, let us pray. Christ’s people are praying people, so we must pray. We can pray for the students that are specifically part of FBC as well as those who are not. We can pray for the families that they are a part of. We can pray for every faculty member at each of our schools; from the principals to the custodians. We can pray for every sports team, the band, choir, and more. There is no shortage of people to pray for in our schools.

Secondly, we can serve them. One of the ways that FBC seeks to serve students is with our famous Breakfast of Champions. It will be on August 25 and we will feed all of the ‘Friday night lights’ students. It is a great way for us to engage, serve, and love students in our high school. If you would like to commit to helping with this event, please let me know. We will need many hands to flip pancakes and serve breakfast with warm smiles.

Lastly, we can engage. Living in Southeast Texas, most people are apt to turn out to many Friday night football games. Being at community events like these is a fantastic opportunity for us to engage our community, especially students. All it takes to begin is saying hello to someone we haven't met before and engaging them for the sake of Christ. It doesn’t have to be fancy and complicated. It is simply the overflow of the grace of God in our hearts eager to tell others of the goodness of Christ.

As you go, pray for our schools, students, teachers, administrators, etc. Engage the community as you live life. Serve the community as opportunity allows. If you’d like to flip pancakes in the wee hours of the morning, I have a spot for you.

Grace be with you,
C. R. Hamilton
