HUMBLE YOURSELVES

HUMBLE YOURSELVES

Under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.  Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.  I Peter 5:6-7

I have run across or read this verse many times in my life as a Christian.  Recently, when I ran across it, it spoke to me in a very different way.  The most precious truth about the Word of God is that it is alive.

Hebrews 4:12 “for the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart”.

While I read the Scripture, Jesus, who is the Word, discerns my thoughts and my intentions.  Whatever is in my heart at that time, that Scripture reaches into my heart and speaks to me.  It becomes personal.

We must humble ourselves.  Even if what we are going through seems so unfair and undeserved at the time.

Lamentations 3:37 “who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it? Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that both calamities and good things come”?

Romans 8:28 “All things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to this purpose”.
So, this conclusion probably seems very simple, but it’s helping me so much through a situation that just eats at me.  Looking around and seeing unfairness for our loved ones or ourselves, we can find that we think we need to go to great extremes to fight back or retaliate.

Nothing happens to us without the Lord’s knowledge and permission.  He wants us to humble ourselves under His hand and He will do the rescuing.  If we belong to Him, everything, good and bad, will work together for our good.

Thank you, Lord for your Word.  Thank you for speaking to us on a personal level.  Thank you for your sweet Holy Spirit that is in us and with us through life here on earth.

We are not alone!!
For His Glory,
Debbie
