I want you to consider this passage from Matthew 25:37-40.
37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
There is a ministry that I have worked with a couple of times in the past called “Night Strike”. Night Strike ministers to the homeless community in the Beaumont area. Each year they host what they call “Christmas In The Park” at Weiss Park in Beaumont for the homeless community. This year’s event is on December 19 from 4-8 pm. I have a wedding on that day so I cannot attend but I would like to collect some items for them to give to the homeless. I hope you will open your heart to this most needy part of our community.
I want to collect the following items:
Black tube socks
Tennis shoes. ( men or women. Various sizes. You chose)
If you would like to donate just bring these items to me here at the church office. As I said, I will not be able to personally attend the event, however, if you would like to go I can arrange it for you.
The homeless truly are “the least of these” in our community. No matter the reasons they are there it is still the church’s responsibility to minister to them. Ministering to them is like ministering to Christ. I hope we can open our hearts to this ministry during this season.
My theme for this Christmas Season is going to be “A Baby Changes Everything.” There will be a lot of sermons about babies. Of course we know that the Baby that really changes “everything” is Christ our Lord. Be sure to worship Him during this season as without Him it’s a commercialized holiday. Love you all. Continue to pray for the sick.
